Website Redesign Cost in Pune: The Short Answer
A website redesign in Pune costs Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 75,000 for a cosmetic refresh, Rs. 90,000 to Rs. 3,50,000 for a full rebuild on the same platform, and Rs. 2,50,000 to Rs. 8,00,000 for a replatform. Add 18% GST on top of every one of those numbers.
Those are real Pune agency figures for 2026, not marketplace bait. Someone will offer you “complete website redesign, Rs. 12,000”. What you get is a new theme dropped on old content, no redirect map, no QA, and a site that quietly loses half its Google traffic by week three.
This article is only about the money. Whether you should redesign at all, and whether a redesign beats a ground up rebuild, are separate questions we cover elsewhere on the blog.
The Three Kinds of Redesign, and What Each Costs
Every quote you receive is secretly one of three jobs. Agencies rarely label them, which is why quotes for “the same work” differ by three times.
1. Cosmetic refresh: Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 75,000
Same platform, same page structure, same URLs, same content. You are buying a new visual layer: colours, typography, spacing, header and footer, hero sections, mobile behaviour, usually a speed pass. Nothing moves, so SEO risk is near zero. Right buy when the site works and ranks but simply looks like 2019. A 10 to 15 page brochure site lands at Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 55,000.
2. Full rebuild on the same platform: Rs. 90,000 to Rs. 3,50,000
New design, new structure, new templates, rewritten content, new URLs. WordPress stays WordPress, but everything above the database changes. Expect Rs. 90,000 to Rs. 1,60,000 for a 12 to 20 page service business, Rs. 1,80,000 to Rs. 2,80,000 once you add custom design, real copywriting and a blog migration, and Rs. 3,00,000 plus for portals, calculators or multi language. Our website development cost breakdown for Pune tracks this band closely, because a rebuild is a new build with migration bolted on.
3. Replatform: Rs. 2,50,000 to Rs. 8,00,000 and up
You are changing the engine. Wix to WordPress, WordPress to Laravel or Next.js, old Magento to Shopify. Everything is rebuilt, all data is exported and reshaped, every integration is rewired. Replatforms are priced by data complexity, not page count. If you are weighing engines, read our comparison of WordPress versus a custom coded website first, because that single decision moves the price more than any design choice.
| Type | What changes | Price (excl. GST) | Timeline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cosmetic refresh | Look only, URLs untouched | Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 75,000 | 2 to 3 weeks |
| Full rebuild | New structure, copy and URLs | Rs. 90,000 to Rs. 3,50,000 | 6 to 10 weeks |
| Replatform | New engine, data migration | Rs. 2,50,000 to Rs. 8,00,000 | 10 to 20 weeks |
| Ecommerce, 500 plus SKUs | Catalogue, checkout, shipping | Rs. 3,50,000 to Rs. 12,00,000 | 12 to 24 weeks |
What Actually Drives the Number
Two Pune businesses ask for “a website redesign” and get quotes of Rs. 60,000 and Rs. 2,40,000. Neither agency is lying. The gap sits in five variables you mostly control.
Page count, and how pages are really counted
Agencies do not count pages, they count unique templates. Forty service pages sharing one layout is one template plus content work. Eight pages that each look different is eight design jobs. Rough 2026 Pune rule: Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 18,000 per unique custom template, then Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 3,000 per extra page reusing it. To cut cost fast, reduce unique layouts, not pages.
Custom design versus a bought theme
A premium theme costs Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 8,000 and skips 30 to 60 hours of design, a genuine saving of Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 90,000. The catch is that themes fight you the moment you want something they did not anticipate, and heavy page builders add 1.5 to 3 seconds of load time. For a straightforward service business a theme is fine. When the website is your main sales channel, custom design pays for itself inside a year.
Content, re-entry and the old blog
This is the line that blows budgets. Design is visible so it gets negotiated. Content is invisible in a quote, gets assumed, then stops the project dead for six weeks. Pune rates in 2026: Rs. 1,200 to Rs. 3,500 per page for professional web copy, Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 6,000 for a researched 1,200 word article, and Rs. 150 to Rs. 400 per post to manually re-enter existing blog content with images intact. Two hundred old posts is Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 80,000 of pure typing unless the migration is scripted. Always ask which it is.
Two more multipliers. An ecommerce catalogue is priced per SKU: Rs. 60 to Rs. 150 per simple product, two to three times that for variants, HSN codes and multiple images. Integrations are each a mini project: payment gateway Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 20,000, Tally or Zoho Books sync Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 90,000, CRM push Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 45,000, WhatsApp API Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 60,000, shipping aggregator Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 40,000. If your quote does not list integrations individually, it has not priced them.
The Line Items Everyone Forgets
The gap between the quote you accepted and what you actually spent is made of the rows below. A serious agency lists them. A cheap quote calls them extra scope in month two.
| Line item | In a cheap quote? | Typical cost | Cost of skipping it |
|---|---|---|---|
| SEO migration and 301 redirect map | Almost never | Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 40,000 | 30% to 70% traffic loss |
| Copywriting for new pages | No, assumed yours | Rs. 1,200 to Rs. 3,500 per page | Project stalls for weeks |
| Blog and archive re-entry | Rarely | Rs. 150 to Rs. 400 per post | Ranking articles deleted |
| Photography and real images | No | Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 45,000 a day | Stock photos, lost trust |
| Staging server and QA pass | No | 10% to 15% of build | Customers find your bugs |
| GA4, Search Console, pixels | Usually forgotten | Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 15,000 | Ads untrackable for months |
| Training and handover video | No | Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 15,000 | You pay to edit a phone number |
| Post launch stabilisation month | No | Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 20,000 | Every fix becomes a paid ticket |
Budget 20% to 30% above the design and development figure for these. That is not padding, it is the real cost of a redesign that does not damage the business.
The Redirect Map: The Cheapest Step That Saves the Most
Remember this one if nothing else. Skipping the redirect map is the single most expensive mistake in an Indian website redesign, and doing it properly costs Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 40,000.
It is a spreadsheet. Column A holds every URL on the current site, column B holds where that content now lives, and every old URL gets a 301 to its closest new equivalent. Pages with no equivalent point to the most relevant parent page, never the homepage and never a 404. Building it means crawling the old site, pulling URLs from Search Console and analytics, sorting by traffic and backlinks, then deciding on each one. Sixty pages is a day of work. A decade of blog archives is a week.
What it costs when you skip it
Google has sent traffic to your old URLs for years. Other sites link to them. They sit in WhatsApp forwards, email signatures, Justdial listings and printed brochures. Change the structure without redirects and all of that becomes a 404, and your positions go to a competitor within weeks.
We have measured this on real Pune sites. One services firm relaunched without redirects, fell from roughly 4,800 monthly organic sessions to 1,400 in seven weeks, and needed nine months and about Rs. 1,80,000 of recovery work to get back. The redirect map they refused was quoted at Rs. 18,000. Compare that against current SEO service prices in Pune and the maths is not close.
Put these in the contract: a redirect sheet approved before launch, page titles and meta descriptions carried across rather than regenerated by a plugin, and Search Console watched for 404 spikes for 30 days after go live.
How Long a Redesign Takes in Pune
Cosmetic refresh, 2 to 3 weeks. Full rebuild, 6 to 10 weeks. Replatform, 10 to 20 weeks. Large ecommerce, 12 to 24 weeks. A typical 8 week rebuild runs one week discovery, one and a half weeks design, one week approvals, two and a half weeks build, one week content and redirects, one week QA and launch. A quarter of that schedule is you approving things.
Where timelines actually slip
Not development. Over 80% of delay comes from three places: content the client promised and did not send, photography that was never shot, and a decision maker unavailable for the design call. Before kickoff, put every page, its content owner and a date in one sheet. If content is not ready by build week, launch that page with a placeholder. Never let one About page hold a Rs. 2,00,000 project hostage.
GST, Payment Terms and Your Invoice
Web design and development is taxed at 18% GST. A Rs. 1,50,000 redesign is billed as Rs. 1,50,000 plus Rs. 27,000 GST, total Rs. 1,77,000. If you are GST registered, that Rs. 27,000 is normally available as input tax credit, so your real cost is the base amount. Ask for the agency GSTIN on the quotation itself, not on the invoice later.
Standard Pune terms in 2026 are 40% advance, 30% at design approval, 30% before go live. Be wary of anyone demanding 70% upfront, and of anyone happy to start on 10%, because your project then sits behind better paying ones. Get in writing that domain, hosting, licences and third party fees are billed at actuals.
How to Phase a Redesign So Cash Flow Stays Sane
You do not have to buy everything in one quarter. Phasing turns a Rs. 3,00,000 redesign into four payments across six months, and later phases get adjusted using real data.
- Phase 0, audit and plan, Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 30,000. Crawl, analytics review, sitemap, wireframes, draft redirect map. You now own a document any agency can execute.
- Phase 1, the money pages, Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 1,20,000. Homepage, top three service pages, contact. These carry about 70% of your leads, and the design system built here is reused later.
- Phase 2, the rest of the site, Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1,00,000. Remaining service pages, about, careers, case studies, all on templates already paid for.
- Phase 3, blog migration, Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 70,000. Move old posts, apply redirects, keep the rankings you already earned.
- Phase 4, conversion and speed, Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 60,000. Forms, WhatsApp CTAs, Core Web Vitals, tracking, testing on pages that now have traffic.
One warning. Phasing works only when every phase shares one design system and one redirect strategy. Phasing across three vendors is not phasing, it is three half sites glued together.

When You Should NOT Redesign
Here is the part most agencies will not say, because it costs them money. In roughly one enquiry out of three, the client needs a Rs. 20,000 fix, not a Rs. 2,00,000 rebuild.
- The real problem is speed. If the site takes 6 seconds on 4G, half your visitors leave before they see any design. Image compression to WebP, caching, a decent host and removing unused plugins costs Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 30,000 and often lifts enquiries 20% to 40%. A pretty slow site converts worse than a plain fast one.
- The real problem is clarity. If a first time visitor cannot tell in three seconds what you sell, who it is for and what to click, that is copy, not design. Rewriting the homepage and top three service pages costs Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 25,000 and ships in a week.
- The real problem is conversion mechanics. No sticky WhatsApp button, an eleven field form, a phone number that is not click to call, no trust signals near the CTA. Fixing all of it is Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 25,000 and two days, and we have seen it double enquiries on a site that looked identical afterwards.
Simple test. Open your analytics. Healthy traffic but few enquiries means fix conversion. Low traffic means fix SEO and content. Redesign when the site genuinely blocks the business: unmanageable, unsafe, broken on mobile, or so far from your positioning that no copy can rescue it. Our web development team will tell you honestly when a redesign is the wrong spend.
Red Flags, and Comparing Two Quotes Fairly
The warning signs are always the same. Any two together and keep looking.
- A lump sum with no split between design, development, content and migration.
- No mention of 301 redirects, SEO migration or staging anywhere in the document.
- “SEO is your SEO agency’s job later.” Migration SEO is the builder’s job.
- No staging URL. Building on the live site will embarrass you in front of customers.
- No source code, hosting or admin handover clause. You would be renting your own website.
- Unlimited revisions promised. That means no process, and an argument later.
- Under Rs. 20,000 for a full redesign. Nobody is doing QA or migration at that number.
To compare fairly, force both quotes onto the same seven lines: unique templates, page count, who writes content, whether the blog is migrated and how, redirect map, staging and QA, and the 30 days after launch. Usually the expensive quote is simply the honest one. Then ask the question that settles it: “Show me a site you redesigned 12 months ago, with organic traffic before and after.”
A Realistic Budget to Work From
For a Pune service business with a 15 to 25 page site and no ecommerce, budget Rs. 1,40,000 to Rs. 2,20,000 including content, migration, QA and 30 days of support, plus 18% GST. For a small store with up to 200 products, budget Rs. 2,50,000 to Rs. 4,50,000, and see our Shopify store setup cost guide. For a refresh on a site that is fundamentally sound, Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 75,000 does the job.
Hold back 10% of the total for the month after launch. Something always needs adjusting once real users touch it, and ready budget turns a two week argument into a two hour fix. A redesign is finished when traffic, enquiries and revenue beat what you had before.
