Social Media Marketing Cost in Pune 2026: Real Monthly Prices

Social Media Marketing Cost in Pune: The Short Answer

In Pune in 2026, social media marketing costs Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 20,000 a month with a solo freelancer, Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 60,000 a month with a small agency, and Rs. 75,000 to Rs. 2,50,000 a month with a full-service agency. Ad spend is always separate.

Add 18 percent GST on top of every one of those numbers. Add shoot costs if you do not already have usable photos and video. A Pune restaurant, gym or clinic that wants a real content engine, not three canvas posts a week, should plan for Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 60,000 a month all in, of which roughly Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 25,000 is media spend paid directly to Meta.

The rest of this page shows what each rupee buys, which line items get left out of the quote on purpose, and the four situations where you should not hire an agency at all.

The Three Pricing Tiers in Pune and What They Actually Are

Every quote you receive in Pune falls into one of three buckets. The price gap is not about talent. It is about how many people touch your account and whether anyone is accountable for numbers rather than posts.

A freelancer is one person doing strategy, design, captions and scheduling in the gaps between other clients. A small agency is two to eight people, usually a designer, a content writer and a founder who handles clients. A full-service agency adds a dedicated account manager, an in-house shoot setup, a performance marketer for ads and a reporting layer that ties spend to leads.

Tier Monthly fee (before GST) Who works on it Best for
Freelancer Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 20,000 One person, part time Single outlet, owner supplies raw photos
Small agency Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 60,000 Designer, writer, coordinator Local brands doing Rs. 30 lakh to Rs. 5 crore a year
Full-service agency Rs. 75,000 to Rs. 2,50,000 Account manager, shoot team, ads specialist Multi outlet, D2C, real estate, hospitals
Ads management only Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 40,000 or 10 to 20 percent of spend Performance marketer You already have content, you need leads

Below Rs. 8,000 a month you are not buying marketing, you are buying a scheduling assistant. Someone is pulling stock images into Canva. It has its place if you simply need the page to look alive, but do not expect enquiries from it.

Content Only Retainer vs Content Plus Paid Ads

This is the single biggest reason two Pune quotes for the same business differ by Rs. 40,000. Ask which one you are being sold.

A content only retainer covers strategy, a monthly content calendar, design, captions, hashtags, scheduling and community replies. Nothing here is bought reach. Your posts go to the people who already follow you, which for most Pune SMEs is 400 to 3,000 people, and organic reach on Instagram now lands around 5 to 12 percent of followers for static posts. That means a good post reaches maybe 200 people.

A content plus ads retainer adds campaign structure, audience building, creative variants, pixel and conversion setup, lead form or WhatsApp routing, daily budget management and a monthly report with cost per lead. This is where the money starts moving, and it is also where an agency earns the higher fee. Expect Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 40,000 extra per month, or 10 to 20 percent of ad spend once you cross Rs. 2 lakh a month in media.

Our honest position after quoting this hundreds of times: if you cannot afford both, buy the ads management and shoot simpler content. Reach beats polish. Beautiful posts nobody sees are the most expensive thing in Indian marketing.

How Many Posts and Reels Are Realistic at Each Price

Volume is where quotes are inflated hardest. A reel that is actually written, shot, edited, subtitled and scheduled takes three to five hours of skilled work. Do that maths against the fee before you accept a promise of twenty reels a month for Rs. 15,000.

What you get Rs. 12,000 tier Rs. 35,000 tier Rs. 90,000 tier
Static or carousel posts 8 to 10 12 to 14 16 to 20
Reels or Shorts 2 to 3, edited from your footage 6 to 8 12 to 16
Stories Repost only 12 to 16 designed Daily, plus polls and Q and A
Shoot day included No One every second month One or two a month
Ads managed No Boosting only Full funnel with cost per lead
Monthly report and review call Screenshot PDF report Report plus 45 minute call

Platform by Platform: Where the Effort and Cost Sit

Agencies quote a single number for all platforms, but the work per platform is wildly different. Knowing this lets you cut a quote intelligently instead of just asking for a discount.

Instagram

The most expensive platform to service, and usually 60 to 70 percent of the retainer. Reels demand shooting, editing, hooks, captions and trending audio. If a Pune brand can only afford one platform, this is normally it, unless you sell to businesses.

Facebook

Cheap to add on top of Instagram because most content cross posts through Meta Business Suite. Its real value in 2026 is not the feed, it is Ads Manager and community groups. Do not pay more than Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 5,000 extra a month for Facebook posting alone, and never let an agency bill it as a full second platform.

LinkedIn

Low volume, high value, writing heavy. Twelve to sixteen well argued posts a month plus founder profile management runs Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 35,000 standalone in Pune. This is the right buy for IT services, consultancies, manufacturing exporters and staffing firms in Hinjawadi, Baner and Kharadi. It converts slower but the leads are worth ten times a follower.

YouTube Shorts

Repurposing existing reels for Shorts costs almost nothing, so any agency charging a separate Rs. 10,000 for it is padding. Native long form YouTube is a genuinely different product at Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 25,000 per finished video including scripting, shoot and edit. Keep it as a separate line item, never bundled quietly into the social retainer.

Ad Spend Is Not the Agency Fee, and Should Never Be Bundled

Ad spend must be a separate number on your quote, paid by your card into your own Meta or Google account. If an agency asks you to transfer media budget to them and bills one combined figure, you lose the ability to audit anything. You cannot see actual delivery, actual cost per result, or how much of your money was really spent.

Realistic Pune media budgets in 2026: a single location service business needs at least Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 25,000 a month to gather usable data. Real estate, education and healthcare, where competition is heavy, start at Rs. 40,000. Below Rs. 10,000 a month the algorithm never leaves the learning phase and you are paying to guess.

Insist on this line in the contract: the client owns the ad account, the Business Manager and the pixel, and grants the agency partner access. Same principle we apply to hosting and domains in our digital marketing engagements. You own the asset, the vendor gets access.

The Add-Ons Most Pune Quotes Quietly Leave Out

A Rs. 25,000 retainer that then needs Rs. 30,000 of production every month is not a Rs. 25,000 retainer. Ask for these four numbers in writing before you sign anything.

Photoshoot and studio

A half day product or interior shoot in Pune runs Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 15,000, a full day Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 35,000 depending on the photographer and lighting setup. Rented studio space in Kothrud or Viman Nagar is Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 6,000 an hour. Most retainers below Rs. 50,000 do not include a shoot at all.

Videographer, model and anchor

A videographer with gimbal, lights and audio is Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 20,000 a day. A model or on camera anchor is Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 25,000 a day, and a known Pune UGC creator can ask more. Food and fashion brands almost always need this. B2B and clinics usually do not, because the founder or doctor on camera outperforms a hired face.

Reel editing and influencer fees

Standalone reel editing is Rs. 800 to Rs. 3,500 per reel, higher with motion graphics or subtitles in two languages. Influencer collaborations are entirely outside the retainer: Pune micro creators with 10,000 to 50,000 followers charge Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 15,000 per reel, and creators above 100,000 charge Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 1,00,000. Agencies usually add 10 to 15 percent coordination fee on top.

GST, Invoicing and What You Actually Pay

Marketing services attract 18 percent GST. A Rs. 40,000 retainer is Rs. 47,200 out of your bank. If you are GST registered you claim input credit, so the real cost stays Rs. 40,000. If you are not registered, that 18 percent is a genuine cost and should be part of your comparison.

Two more invoicing details worth checking. First, ad spend billed by Meta India carries its own GST plus equalisation levy handling, so never assume your media budget is the full amount that reaches the auction. Second, a quote that shows a suspiciously round all inclusive number with no GST line usually means the vendor is unregistered, which is fine for a freelancer but means no input credit for you.

Standard payment terms in Pune are 100 percent advance for the first month, then monthly in advance by the 5th. Anything asking for a six month advance should come with a written discount, typically 5 to 10 percent, and a clear refund clause.

Contract Length and a Fair Exit Clause

Three months is the fair minimum. Month one is setup, audit, calendar and the first shoot, so judging results before day 90 is unfair to a good agency and lets a bad one hide. Six month contracts are normal at higher budgets. Twelve month lock-ins with no exit route are a trap, especially when bundled with a discount you will never recover.

What a fair exit clause reads like

After the initial three month term, either party may exit with 30 days written notice, no penalty. Fees are paid up to the notice end date only. Within seven working days of exit, the agency hands over all raw files, edited assets, the content calendar, Canva or Figma sources and removes itself from your Business Manager. The client retains ownership and admin rights to all accounts, ad accounts and pixels throughout. Get this in writing, or expect a hostage situation later.

Red Flags in a Pune Social Media Quote

These come up constantly when clients forward us competing proposals.

  • Guaranteed followers. Nobody can guarantee organic growth. Guaranteed numbers mean bought followers, which destroy your reach permanently because the algorithm reads your engagement rate.
  • No content calendar in advance. If you cannot see next month’s posts before the 28th of this month, there is no plan, only reactions.
  • No reporting or a screenshot of reach. Reach is not a result. Ask for saves, profile visits, link clicks, enquiries and cost per lead.
  • The agency creates your account on their email. This is the most common way Pune businesses lose a page with 20,000 followers. Same discipline as domains and hosting, explained in our hosting guide for Pune owners.
  • Unlimited posts. Unlimited always means templated and low effort. Nobody sells unlimited skilled labour.
  • One combined number for fee plus ad spend. Covered above, and it is the fastest way to be quietly overcharged.
  • No named account manager. Ask who replies to your WhatsApp on a Tuesday afternoon and how fast.

When a Pune Business Should Not Hire an SMM Agency

We turn down roughly one in four social media enquiries because the money is better spent elsewhere. Four honest cases.

Your customers search, they do not scroll. Plumbers, packers and movers, dentists, lawyers, AC repair, CA firms. People do not discover you on Instagram, they type the need into Google at the moment of pain. Fix your Google Business Profile, collect reviews and run Google Ads at Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 30,000 a month. Our SEO pricing page covers the alternative in detail.

Your total marketing budget is under Rs. 20,000 a month. Split into a retainer plus ads, neither half is big enough to work. Post yourself three times a week, hire an editor at Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 8,000 a month to cut your phone footage, and put every remaining rupee into ads.

You have no photos, no shoot budget and nobody willing to be on camera. An agency cannot manufacture raw material. You will pay Rs. 30,000 a month for stock images and quote posts that convert nobody.

Your website cannot receive the traffic. Sending paid clicks to a slow site with no enquiry path burns the budget at the last step. Fix the site first, see our Pune website cost breakdown, then switch on social.

If none of those describe you, and you sell something visual, local and repeat purchase, social media in Pune is one of the cheapest customer acquisition channels still available. Just buy it with your eyes open, at a real price, with a real scope.
