Logistics Website Design for Freight and Transport Firms

A site that answers both visitors: the customer chasing a docket number and the exporter asking for a rate on a lane. Built mobile-first from ₹24,999, live in 7–10 working days, with enquiries landing on WhatsApp.

Logistics Website Design

A transport office runs on the phone. A dispatch manager wants a rate on a lane by evening, an exporter wants to know whether the container has been gated in, and a factory wants proof that you own trucks rather than a phone book of brokers. Most freight websites answer none of that. They open with a photograph of a container ship and a paragraph about being a trusted partner.

We build the site around the two jobs it has to do — find status, and get a rate. Tracking sits in the header, not three clicks down. Every service gets its own page with transit times, chargeable-weight rules and what is excluded. Licence and membership numbers go where a procurement team can copy them. The three demos below — Air O Sea, MERIDIAN Logistics and Terminal — are live sites you can open on your phone right now, and each one solves a different part of this.

Two people open a freight website and only one of them wants a quote

Freight buying in India starts with a phone call and a shortlist. A factory dispatch head asks two transporters he already uses, then searches for a third. That search is rarely “logistics company”. It is a lane, a commodity or a service with a port attached — part load to the north east, reefer movement for pharma, customs clearance at a named port, bonded warehousing near a plant. Sites written around the word “solutions” do not appear in any of those results.

The other half of the traffic is not buying anything. It is your own consignors and their customers looking for status. On most freight sites they hunt for the tracking box, find it below the fold on a desktop-only layout, and ring the ops desk instead — a call your team is paying to answer.

Then there is the procurement path. A large shipper empanels vendors before it ever asks for a rate: GST certificate, PAN, CIN, Udyam registration, insurance cover note, customs broker licence, MTO registration, IEC where applicable, AMTOI or FIATA membership. When those sit on the site as downloadable documents, you clear the first filter without a meeting. When they do not, you are asked to email them and the file joins fifty others in an inbox.

The faults repeat from site to site: a rate card PDF from a year when diesel was cheaper, no transit times anywhere, eleven service paragraphs that say the same thing, stock photography of ships that are plainly not yours, and a contact form asking only for name, email and message — which produces enquiries no pricing desk can quote from.

Lanes, licences and the rate form — what actually goes on the site

The build follows those two jobs, and each page is written so a pricing desk or a procurement team can act on it without ringing you.

  • A tracking bar in the header that accepts a docket, LR, AWB or container number, posts to your TMS or the carrier’s API, and falls back to a pre-filled WhatsApp message to ops when the number is not found.
  • One page per service — FTL, part load and LTL, air freight, ocean FCL and LCL, customs clearance, warehousing and 3PL, cold chain, last mile — each with transit bands, the chargeable-weight basis and what the rate excludes.
  • Lane pages for routes you actually run, with usual transit days, vehicle types available on that lane, and a rate form that arrives already tagged with the origin and destination.
  • A rate enquiry form built for a pricing desk: origin and destination PIN, pickup date, gross weight and dimensions, package count, commodity, hazardous or not, Incoterm, and who is raising the e-way bill.
  • A chargeable-weight calculator — volumetric for air, CBM for LCL — so the enquiry lands with the number already worked out.
  • Industry pages for pharma, automotive, e-commerce, FMCG and project cargo, each carrying the detail those buyers ask for: temperature ranges and data loggers, ODC permits, reverse-logistics handling.
  • A credentials block with customs broker licence, MTO registration, IEC, GST and CIN shown as text, and the certificates attached as downloads.
  • Fleet and warehouse pages with real photographs, vehicle counts by type, warehouse area, racking, dock levellers and temperature ranges.
  • An empanelment page holding the vendor registration pack in one download, and an RFQ form that routes to your key-account person rather than the general inbox.
  • An insurance and claims page stating what carrier liability covers by default, what transit cover costs, and the documents a claim needs.
  • Every form delivered to WhatsApp and email together, with lane and weight in the first line so it can be quoted from a phone at the dock.

Do not put a tracking box on the site until the data behind it is real

This one decision separates a freight site that works from one that irritates people. A tracking box returning “no record found” for half the numbers typed into it is worse than no box, because the customer now assumes the shipment is lost and calls anyway. So we ask a plain question first: where does status live today? If it is in a TMS with an API, we connect to it. If ops run on a WhatsApp group and a spreadsheet, we do not fake a feed — we build a status request that carries the docket number into WhatsApp with a stated reply time, or a status sheet your ops updates twice a day. Both are honest, and both can be replaced later by a proper key-account portal, which is custom software work rather than website work.

The same honesty applies to search. You will not out-rank shipping lines and airlines for container or AWB tracking queries, and paying anyone to chase them wastes money. What you can win is lane, commodity and service queries, and you win them by publishing lanes you genuinely operate with transit times attached. Ten real lane pages beat a hundred spun ones. If most of your work comes from a broker network and repeat consignors, the ₹24,999 site with a proper enquiry form is enough — hold the monthly SEO spend until the lane pages exist and someone in ops owns keeping transit times, fleet counts and warehouse details current.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Business Website is ₹24,999 for up to seven pages — services, fleet, credentials, contact and a rate enquiry form — in 7–10 working days. Most freight firms take Business Pro + SEO at ₹49,999 because lane, service and industry pages run past fifteen pages. A key-account portal is web app work, from ₹1,49,999. All prices exclude 18% GST, paid 50% to start and 50% at launch.
No. Our office is in Pune and roughly 60% of our clients are elsewhere in India, including transport firms whose branches we have never visited. Delivery is remote: a WhatsApp group for daily updates, Google Meet for reviews, a shared checklist for fleet photos and licence copies, and a 40-point pre-launch check. Domain, hosting and analytics are created in your company’s name.
Not a live feed, and we will not pretend otherwise. Without a system to read from, we build a status request that carries the docket or LR number into WhatsApp with a stated reply time, or a status sheet your ops team updates twice a day. Both keep customers off the phone. When you buy a TMS later, the widget connects to its API.
Yes, and it shortens the sales cycle. Licence number, MTO registration, IEC, GST and CIN as plain text, with certificate PDFs available to download, is exactly what a procurement team checks before sending an RFQ. We publish only what you give us and only what is current — an expired certificate sitting on a website is worse than no certificate at all.
For lanes you genuinely run, yes. We build a page per lane with transit days, vehicle types and an enquiry form pre-tagged to that route, then link them from the service pages. It takes weeks, not days. Pages written for lanes you cannot service will bring enquiries you have to refuse, so start with your ten strongest routes and add more later.
That is not a website feature. It has to read your TMS or ERP, hold logins and keep one customer’s data away from another’s, so it is quoted as a web app from ₹1,49,999 after a paid discovery sprint at ₹49,999. Most firms start with the website and a WhatsApp status flow, then add the portal once shipment volumes justify the spend.
